Goals
As this incredible year comes to an end, it is time to start looking into the future. This program has opened my eyes to new innovative ways to approach teaching and education. In the past, I have primarily been a math teacher and would love the opportunity to become a STEM teacher and bring the vision and mission of #MSUrbanSTEM to life. Regardless of future teaching positions, I plan on using the knowledge that I have gained from this program and incorporating it into my math classes. I would also be interested in a STEM coordinator position. I would love to help share this knowledge with other teachers and bring these types of opportunities to more classrooms all over.
Anticipating Change
Regardless of where I am next year or what I teach, I plan on anticipating some change. I am going to take more risks next year in regards to what I am normally comfortable with. I plan on incorporating more activities and projects that inspire my students to explore outside of the box. I plan on developing more inquiry-based projects that involve all other aspects of STEM to create multiple dimensions.
Diversity Plan
As I continue to grow as an educator, I continue to network and branch out to have multiple resources available to me. I am also currently in a cohort for principal leadership. Once a week I work and collaborate with teachers all over the Chicagoland area. It is great to see different perspectives from teachers that work in different communities and school districts. I also have worked with a personalized learning platform and have been collaborating with peers working with Summit Basecamp. I plan to continue to network and grow as an educator. I feel that all of the experiences and opportunities help mold me into an even better educator which is my ultimate goal.
Courage
One thing that I have learned more and more through this program and through my teaching career is the willingness to let go of what I am comfortable with and try something new. Any teacher can stick to what they know and teach the same way over year after year. A great teacher gets out of their comfort zone and continuously tries new things in the classroom.
